CK Nayudu

CK Nayudu was the first captain of Indian Cricket team. India debuted in test cricket in 1932 under his leadership. Naidu has scored 350 runs and taken 9 wickets from 7 matches. He was awarded Wisden 'Cricketer of the Year' in 1933.

Vijay Merchant

He was one of the finest attacking batsmen India has produced. He made his debut against England in 1933. He has scored 859 runs including 3 centuries from 10 tests.

He retired in 1952.

Lala Amarnath

Amarnath was the first skipper of the independent India. He was a fantastic allrounder. He debuted in 1933. He was the captain when India won a test match for the first time. He has scored 878 runs and taken 45 wickets from 24 matches. His sons Mohinder and Surinder were also cricketers.

Sunil Gavaskar

He is one of the greatest batsmen Cricket has ever seen. He was the first player to complete 10,000 runs in test cricket. He led the team in 47 matches as well. Gavaskar has scored 10,122 runs from 125 tests. His 34 centuries in tests was a world record for a long time.

Bishansingh Bedi

He is one of the greatest left arm spinners of all time. He made his debut in 1966 against West Indies. He was the first Indian bowler to take 200 wickets in tests. He has taken 266 wickets from 67 matches. He led India in 22 tests. His bowling performance against East Africa in 1975 world cup, conceding only 8 runs from 12 overs, is still a world record. He retired in 1978.

EAS Prasanna

He is one of the greatest off-spin bowlers in the history of Indian Cricket. He made his debut against England in 1961. He has taken 189 wickets from 49 test matches.

Kapil Dev

He is one of the greatest all rounders of all time. He was the captain who led India to its first world cup victory in 1983. He has led India in 34 tests and 74 ODIs. He was the Indian captain in 1987 world cup as well. Kapil debuted in 1978. He has scored 5248 runs and taken 434 wickets from 131 test matches. He held the world record for most number of test wickets for a long time. His 175 runs against Zimbbawe in 1983 world cup was a record then as well. He has taken 253 wickets from 225 matches in ODI cricket.

Farooq Engineer

He was one of the greatest wicket keepers Indian cricket has seen. He debuted in 1961. He has scored 2611 runs from 46 matches. He took 66 catches and committed 16 stumpings. He was the first Indian player to win Man of the Match award in World Cup.
