Sachin Tendulkar, the greatest batsman of his era, holds the record for the maximum number of centuries in Test Cricket. He has scored 51 tons in the 200 matches he played. These are the best of them.

119 v/s England

It was the innings that heralded the entry of a new genius to the world of Cricket. It was Sachin's debut century, and it couldn't have come at a better time. It was in the 2nd Test against England at Old Trafford in 1990. England set a target of 408 before India to win.

Sachin came out to bat at 109/4 and started with good rhythm. At 183/6, India were tottering when Sachin and Manoj Prabhakar partnered to put up 160 runs for the 7th wicket to save the game. Sachin scored his maiden Test hundred with relative ease, smashing 17 fours. His innings saved the team and helped to secure a draw.

241* v/s Australia

Sachin had been nowhere near to his from in the first three matches in the series against Australia in. He had dtruggled with an injury. But the 4th test, which incidentally happened to be the final test of the Aussies captain Steve Waugh, Sachin went on to prove why he was one of the greatest. He scored 241 without playing a single cover drive.

136 v/s Pakistan

In the first Test of the home series against Pakistan in 1999 in Chennai, India were set a target of 271 to win. The Indian top order collapsed before the Pak pace attack and fell to a score of 82/5. But Sachin, partnering with Nayan Mongia put up a 136-run stand for the sixth wicket. Even after Mongia fell, he played his natural game. When he was finally dismissed by Saqlain Mushtaq on 136, India needed only 17 runs with 3 wickets in hand. But the following batsmen showed no will to survive and they lost 4 wickets for as many runs. India lost by 12 runs, rendering Sachin's work a complete nought.

114 v/s Australia

The WACA pitch at Perth is known for troubling batsmen with its pace and bounce. Foreign batsmen usually struggle there and in the 5th test of Australian series in 1992 only Sachin Tendulkar managed to defy the Australian bowling attack with a knock of 114 while his partners perished early. Despite his brave knock in first innings, India lost the test for 300 runs.

103* v/s England

It was the first Test against England in Chennai in 2008 and was India's first game after the Mumbai terror attacks. England set before India a target of 387 to win. Sehwag and Gambhir set a solid base for the team and Sachin and Yuvaraj saw the team home. It was Sachin's first ever century in 4th innings and he was not out at the end, a rare feat for him.
