The article speaks about the chances of Indian team defeating the Sri Lankan team in the finals of the T20 World Cup tournament in Bangladesh on 6th April, 2014.

The best 2 teams in the T20 World Cup tournament had entered the finals. The cricket-lovers expect that the final match is not interrupted by rain. In Bangladesh and West Bengal, at this time of the year, there is fear of Kaalbaishakhi. Due to hot and humid conditions, cyclonic winds come and thundershowers follow. If that happens on Sunday, 6th April, 2014, there can be trouble.

But if the match is played from 1st over to the 40th over India has an edge over Sri Lanka. The difference between the two team is in its batting.

India is a much better batting side than Sri Lanka. With the success of Indian batsmen against South African fast bowlers, it is evident that pace bowling of Sri Lanka cannot create to the crafty Indian batsmen like Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Dhoni and others.

Sri Lanka seriously depends on their spinners like Herath to restrain the Indian batsmen. As far as Indian bowlers are concerned, Amit Mishra is the peak of the bowlers. He had a bad day against South Africa. One of the reasons might be Duminy’s plan of attacking him in the first over. He could not get his line and length correct against the left hander for the rest of the match. But if he really can get the line correct he can be a threat against Sri Lanka. India also did not use Mohammad Shami in the semi-finals against South Africa. Mohit Sharma played instead of Shami. It was a wrong decision. Mohammad Shami has huge numbers of variations including inswing yorkers, slower deliveries. India has one more advantage that Suresh Raina or Yuvraaj Singh who are considered part time bowlers can be effective in slow turning wicket in Bangladesh. But Dhoni has to be careful in respect of not over-using them. Sri Lankan batsmen are too good against spin-bowling and other than Amit Mishra and Ravindra Jadeja the rest cannot be of substance against Sri Lanka.

Sangakarra, Jayavardhana and Dilshan are the best players of spin in every form of cricket for the moment. Mathews and Perera had also been successful in the World Cup T20 till now.

But even after their strengths are analyzed, Indian batting is better than Sri Lankan batting. MS Dhoni had hardly got any scope of batting at No. 6 position due to success of the top order. That tell the story. In paper India is a better team than Sri Lanka. Everything depends on how India can handle pressure in the final match of T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.
