Asia, considering the FIFA World Cup history, has not yet kept the championship title in FIFA World Cup. With their lower achievements in the AFC Nations Cup, South Korea had competed three times in the semi-final matches in the years of 2000, 2007 and 2011. In 1996 and 2004, they qualified to oppose the other teams in quarterfinals.

And in 1984, they just ended in the first round of the AFC Nations Cup.

South Korean player who played the longest minutes in FIFA World Cup for their national football team is Myung-Bo Hong who captained seven of his 16 matches with two goals and had run in the world stage of football for a total of 1406 minutes in his four appearances in the year 1990, 1994, 1998 and 2002.
