In the 4th One Day International between India and Sri Lanka held at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 13th November, 2014, Rohit Sharma played a super human innings. Not only that he had scored 264 runs breaking the world record for highest runs in a One Day International, but the devastating shots could be played only by super-human effort.

 

India scored a massive 404 runs in the 50 overs. Rohit Sharma made a comeback in the Indian team after some time of injury and it has been a blessing for India that he had struck form at the right time, just before the beginning of the World Cup.

In reply Sri Lanka was reduced down to 93 for 4 wickets in 17 overs. Due to excellent bowling of Umesh Yadav Sri Lanka always lost early wickets. In this match the early batsmen including Jayaverdana scored  only 2 runs and got LBW out in the ball of Umesh Yadav. Perera, Dilshan and Chandimal all failed in the match. The changes made in the team did not work.

 

India now has huge number of positive factors going in their favour. The batting had been working well. The fielding had been brilliant in the series. Even the bowlers had done well. India will remain one of the contenders for winning the next World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in 2015.
