Due to bad bowling Kolkata conceded 186 runs to Delhi Daredevils. In reply Kolkata could not bat properly and lost wickets at regular intervals. Ultimately they lost the match by 27 runs.

Kolkata Knight Riders took early wickets against Delhi Dare Devils on 30th April, 2016. The match was played in Feroz Shah Kotla ground in New Delhi. Kolkata Knight Riders played Brad Hogg in the match. Russel got De Kock out for one run. Iyyer got out for a duck. Sunil Narine got rid of Sanju Samson leg before wicket.

 

Karun Nair and Billings played very well in the middle overs.

After 12 overs, Delhi Dare Devils were 92 runs for 3 wickets. Karun Nair was batting on 40 runs of 34 balls. After 13 overs, Delhi Dare Devils were 99 runs for 3 wickets. Billings was batting on 37 runs. Brad Hogg was economical. But Piyush Chawla went for a lot of runs in the middle overs.

 

Holder was brought into the attack. After 14 overs, Delhi Dare Devils were 104 for the loss of 3 wickets. Karun Nayyar was unbeaten on 46 runs. Billings was not out on 38 runs. Karun Nair got his 50 runs of 39 balls. He scored 2 back to back boundaries of Sunil Narine’s over. Sunil Narine bowled a wide ball after the 3rd ball. Karun Nair went for a reverse sweep and scored a 3rd boundary of the 4th ball of Sunil Narine. After 15 overs Delhi Dare Devils were 120 runs for the loss of 3 wickets.

 

Karun Nair got out and Braithwaite came to bat. Karun Nair was the highest scorer with 68 runs of 50 balls. Hogg came to bowl the 18th over. Braithwaite hit a great six in the 4th ball of Brad Hogg. Billings went to his 50 runs by hitting a huge six of the last ball of Brad Hogg. Brad Hogg gave 39 runs of his 4 overs.

 

Umesh Yadav came to bowl the 19th over of the match. In the first ball Braithwaite hit a huge six. In the 2nd ball his mis-hit went for 4 runs. Billings got bowled out for 54 runs in the 3rd ball of Umesh Yadav. He scored 54 runs of 34 balls. One of the reasons of huge flow of runs for Delhi Dare Devils was due to hard hits of Billings.

 

Russel came to bowl the last over. Braithwaite played a stormy innings of 34 runs in short time. He made the huge difference. He hit Russel for a six in the first ball, but got out caught in the 2nd ball of Sunil Narine. In 20 overs Delhi Dare Devils scored 186 runs of 20 overs. Russel was the best bowler giving 26 runs in 4 overs and picking up 3 wickets.

 

For Kolkata Knight Riders it was an uphill task. Zahir Khan opened the attack for Delhi Dare Devils. In the first over Gambhir and Robin Uthappa scored 5 runs. Mohammad Shami bowled the 2nd over. He bowled at 145 kilometer per hour. Utthappa hit a boundary of the last over. After 2 overs Kolkata Knight Riders were 13 runs for no loss.

 

Utthappa scored a boundary in the 3rd ball of Zaheer Khan’s 2nd over. Zaheer Khan took the important wicket of Gautam Gambhir caught to Iyyer. Gambhir got out for 6 runs. Piyush Chawla was send early. He hit 2 boundaries but got out leg before wicket in the ball of Zaheer Khan for 8 runs.

 

Yusuf Pathan was send at No 4. He was not in form. He scored 10 runs and got caught out to Amit Mishra in the ball of Braithwaite. Kolkata Knight Riders got a bad start. After 9 overs they were 66 runs for loss of 3 wickets. Suryakumar Yadav came to the crease.

 

Uthappa was playing well. He was 35 runs not out in 28 balls. Suryakant Yadav scored a boundary in the 3rd ball of Braithwaite’s 2nd over. Suryakumar Yadav was 14 runs not out of 9 balls. Braithwaite bowled a no ball in his 2nd over. He bowled a wide and it went for a boundary. Suryakant Yadav scored a six of the ball which came from a free hit. Kolkata Knight Riders were 88 runs for the loss of 3 wickets after 10 overs. Surykant Yadav was not out on 20 runs of 11 balls.

 

Amit Mishra came to bowl the 11th over. After 11 overs Kolkata Knight Riders were 93 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Amit Mishra just gave 5 runs in his first over. Braithwaite came to bowl his 3rd over. Suryakant Yadav got out caught to Iyer in the ball of Braithwaite. He scored 21 runs of 13 balls. Kolkata Knight Riders were 94 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Satish came to the crease.

 

After 12 overs Kolkata Knight Riders were 99 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. In the last 8 overs they required 88 runs. Satish struggled against googly of Amit Mishra. Robin Uthhappa was not out on 46 runs of 42 balls. After 13 overs Kolkata Knight Riders were 102 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.

 

Braithwaite came to bowl the 14th over. Satish hit a boundary back to the bowler in the 2nd ball of Braithwaite. Satish got out caught to Morris in the 3rd ball of Braithwaite. Satish got out for 6 runs of 7 balls. Kolkata Knight Riders were 106 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Russel came to the crease. Braithwaite got 3 wickets in his spell of 4 overs. Russel scored a boundary of the last ball of Braithwaite. Kolkata Knight Riders were 113 runs for the loss of 5 wickets after 14 overs.

 

Amit Mishra bowled the 15th over. Uthappa scored a six of the 1st ball of Amit Mishra. He scored his half century with the six. Robin Uthappa scored a boundary of the last ball of Amit Mishra.

 

In the last 30 balls Kolkata required 60 runs. Russel hit a six of the 4th ball of Mohammad Shami’s over. Shami then bowled a wide. After 16 overs Kolkata were 136 runs for 5 wickets. They required 51 runs of 24 balls.

 

Amit Mishra came to bowl the 17th over. Robin Uthappa scored a six of the first ball. In the next ball he scored a boundary. Russel hit a boundary of the 4th ball. Russel got caught out for 17 runs caught and bowled Amit Mishra. Kolkata required 36 runs of 18 balls. Holder got run out for duck. Morris got him run out. Robin Uthappa got out for 72 runs of 52 balls. Morris got the wicket. Kolkata lost 8 wickets. In the last 12 balls Kolkata required 31 runs. Ultimately Kolkata lost by 27 runs.
