The Blues were deserved winners of the game and the Saints did well to give them a run for their money.

The game between Chelsea and Southampton were full of ehhs and ahhh as the fun and tension were very high in the first half of the game. The saints kind of disappointed in the second half but all thesame they lots of actions on and off the pitch...

We'll start with the goals.....

1. All goals scored were "Classic"

All goals scored in the game were classic goals and as a result of team work from both ends of the pitch. Also, the six goals scored in the game were scored by players with 'chelsea' links. The four goals scored by Chelsea FC were scored by current Chelsea players while the latter 2 goals were scored by current Southampton players but with Chelsea link (Ryan Betrand and Oriol Romeu). Yeah.

Eden Hazard opened the scoring after a brilliant counter attack and exchange of passes between himself and D. Costa.

The Chelsea meastro drove in a low shot left hand side of goal to beat the Saints goalie in less than 7 minutes of play.

A quick response from the former Chelsea center-back, Oriol Romeu with a little tap-in after a scramble in front of the Chelsea goal ensured that the Saints were in for a fight in the game.

We had to wait till the last minute of the first half, precisely the 45th minute before the deadlock from broken after a cross was whipped in by PFA player of the Year, Kante which found the head of Alonso who then lays it in for a well placed header by Cahill..

Chelsea goes in for the first half break with a 2-1 lead.

The second half kicked off with nice piece of play by the Saints who unfortunately could not find the back of the net after so many attempts at goal. It didn't take long for another piece of play from Chelsea's midfield to set up Fabregas who drives in a well timed cross to Diego Costa, and the brazillian made no mistake with a header to the right to beat the Southampton goalie for Chelsea's third goal of the night.

As if that was not enough, Eden Hazard broke through the defense of the Southampton side and a wonderfully worked 1-2 passes with Diego Costa left the Southampton goalkeeper puzzled at his goal post and the a slow shot from the Chelsea striker, Costa made it four for Chelsea and his second goal for the night.

The 92nd minute, the Saints whipped in an inviting cross across the face of Chelsea goal, the Chelsea defense were ball watching as a free header from the Chelsea loanee Betrand gave the Saints their second of the night..

The match ended Chelsea 4 - 2 Southampton at Stamford Bridge.

2. Antonio Conte was Chelsea 12th man

The Chelsea boss as we know him does not sit down when a game is going on. He was instructing all through the night with taps of encouragement to any player that comes close to him.

Conte was involved in five goals scored on the night. He celebrated his team's four goals and almost bent his head to the grass in displeasure as Romeu equalized for the Saints in the first half.
