Royal Challengers Bengaluru were considered favourites in the match of IPL 2014 in Mumbai on 6th May, 2014 against Mumbai Indians. But due to excellent batting of Rohit Sharma and Pollard the cricket pundits were proved wrong. Mumbai Indians posted a great score of 187 runs in 20 overs. The total looked too much for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They lost the match by 18 runs and scored only 169 runs.

Ashok Dinda gave 38 runs in 3 overs. Aaron gave 41 runs in 4 overs and got pounded to different parts of the field.

The huge batting line up of Royal Challengers Bengaluru was tested. Parthiv Patel started well by scoring 26 runs of 19 balls. He did hit five boundaries. Gayle started the storm. He scored 38 runs of 24 balls with 3 boundaries and 3 over-boundaries. The moment he looked like taking the match out of the hand of the Mumbai Indians, Harbhajan Singh struck gold. He got Gayle bowled out. That changed the complexion match.

Virat Kohli as usual played a number of crafty shots. He scored 35runs of 28 balls with 2 beautiful boundaries and 2 huge sixes. But he got out in the ball of Suyal when Anderson took a brilliant catch which was unbelievable. The last card of Royal Challengers included AB De Villiers. He had the capability of shaping the destiny of the match. He did that in the earlier match by scoring 89 runs. But this time he got out bowled by Mumrah for 9 runs of 7 balls. Yuvraaj Singh also scored only 7 runs. At the end Royal Challengers Bengaluru lost the match by 19 runs. Bumrah, Harbhajan Singh and Malinga got 2 wickets each.
